LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Thousands of students, parents, and teachers from every sector of
education are expected to gather on Tuesday, January 26, to show support
for educational opportunity in the Silver State.
The event will take place at 10 a.m. at the Las Vegas Cashman Center and
will feature speakers representing all types of school choice, from
traditional public schools to public charter, magnet, online, private,
and home schools.
The goal of the event is to celebrate the continued success of
educational opportunity in the state.
The celebration is timed to coincide with National School Choice Week
(January 24-30, 2016), which will be America’s largest-ever celebration
of opportunity in education, with more than 16,000 events being planned.
“This event will bring together families from every corner of Nevada to
celebrate what we have in common: the goal of effective education for
our kids,” said Katy Foley of Academica Nevada.
“We have a lot to celebrate during National School Choice Week this
year,” said Elissa Wahl of Nevada Homeschool Network. “I’m looking
forward to a great 2016 for families in Nevada who want to ensure their
children receive the best education possible."
A diverse group of Nevada individuals and organizations have worked
together to plan this event, including RISE Resource Center, Nevada
Homeschool Network, Nevada Policy Research Institute, NevadaESA.com,
Academica Nevada, and The LIBRE Initiative.
Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent public
awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective
education options for every child. Through thousands of independently
planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises
public awareness of all types of educational choices available to
children. These options include traditional public schools, public
charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private
schools, and homeschooling.
